EveryWAN supports IBM Lotus Traveler and Sametime

Sparus Software delivers a solution to manage and secure IBM Lotus collaborative solutions over Windows Mobile devices.

Paris, October 14, 2008. With EveryWAN Mobility Manager, Sparus Software brings to IBM Lotus enterprise customers a leading-edge solution to manage and secure deployments of corporate emails and instant messages over Windows Mobile devices.

During the recent Lotus’Tech2008, IBM stated that mobility is critical within its Unified Communication offering, especially around Lotus Sametime™ and Lotus Notes/Domino™. A major industry player with over 40% corporate email server market share according to Gartner Group and 140 million Lotus Notes users worldwide, IBM has released Lotus Traveler in April 2008 –an integral component of Notes/Domino v8.0.1– which enables end-users to access and synchronize email, calendar and contacts ‘over-the-air’ from their Windows Mobile PDA or smartphones.

Last summer, in close collaboration with the technical team of the IBM Innovation Center laboratory, Sparus Software has certified the integration of EveryWAN Mobility Manager, its mobile device management and security product, with the Lotus software suite. This advanced integration allows a dynamic connection with the Domino LDAP Directory, the remote download and installation of Traveler and Sametime client software on the mobile device and their automatic configuration to access the proper Domino and Sametime servers, as well as compression and encryption of wireless data transfer traffic during synchronization phases.

« EveryWAN brings in clear benefits to IBM Lotus customers when deploying mobile collaborative solutions to their workforce, explains Didier Rochereau, Sparus Software COO. The remote download and installation of the Lotus Traveler client software is fully optimized, EveryWAN being able to send the appropriate Traveler version according to the type of device (PDA or smartphone) and OS version while applying on-the-fly compression, and –for instance– only when the device is connected over a LAN of Wifi, thus reducing communication costs. »

To market EveryWAN Mobility Manager towards IBM Lotus customers, Sparus Software works closely with IBM Lotus large account sales teams and IBM Lotus business partners, as for example with Coheris, a systems integrator specialized in IBM environments.

« As an IBM business partner, we have been impressed by Sparus offering, adds Marc Stanciu, Coheris General Manager. In addition to the IBM Lotus integration, EveryWAN enables to reach a very high level of security thanks to a strong symmetrical authentication between the devices and the corporate Information System, local device data encryption, remote wipe, password and certificate management. Furthermore, EveryWAN is the only device management solution on the market which runs also under Linux, which makes it easy to integrate with Lotus Foundations. »

EveryWAN is certified « ready for IBM Lotus Software » and will be presented by Sparus during the next Lotusphere conference in Orlando, Florida (USA), January 18-22, 2009.
